Sedation dentistry is a safe, gentle option used to help patients relax while having dental treatment. Medication will be used, and you will remain awake.
Our practice offers local anesthesia and oral Sedation. Dr. Polnar will discuss if oral sedation is an option for you.
Local Anesthesia – an anesthetic applied directly to the area of removal
Oral Sedation – medicine prescribed that you take the night before and day of your visit. While you will be awake, this will help calm any anxiety you may have during the procedure. You will need a ride to and from the appointment to use oral sedation
Nitrous Oxide – the "laughing" gas is a a popular sedation option. Nitrous oxide and oxygen are inhaled in a controlled manner during dental treatment. It is turned "on" and "off" and most can go about their day after a short recovery.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation – Our anesthesiologist administers anesthesia medication through an IV to provide deep sedation or general anesthesia. This is the only "true" sleep dentistry. You will be asleep during your dental procedure and when you safely wake up it will all be done.
What are the benefits of Sedation Dentistry?
Being sedated while you have dental work completed brings with it many benefits. Your anxiety will be relieved, you will be less aware or unaware of the procedure being carried out, and your fear will be a thing of the past.
Who should consider Sedation Dentistry?
