Patient education is essential to the success of the implant procedure. Dr. Polnar and the team at Elite Dental of Natick want you to understand every stage of the process to help you experience the best possible benefits. The following describes what you can expect.
The doctor, our team, and you will determine your needs, assess your oral health, review your medical history, and discuss treatment options. We’ll also discuss costs, financing options if necessary, and timing.
Exam and Preparation
Can be the same day as Free Consultation
We'll take a 3D CT scan and create a photo-realistic 3D digitalization of your face and jaw area as well as make impressions of your teeth. This exam usually lasts around an hour. You may have a few more appointments ahead of implant placement to ensure your temporary fixed teeth are ready on the day of tooth removal
Implants Placed
1-4 weeks after exam and preparation depending on services planned
We will start by reviewing what we have planned for the day. If you are sedated, pre-operative instructions vary. We will gently numb you with local anesthetic to keep you comfortable. During the procedure, we will remove any teeth that require removal, add or adjust bone as needed, and place implants in your jaw bone. If implants cannot be placed that day, bone grafting will be performed. You may be given a temporary removable denture during your healing You will be well on your way to your new smile!
Post-Op Evaluation
1 week following implant placement
You'll come back to our office for a full evaluation to ensure proper healing, aesthetics, and functionality. If doing a fixed implant bridge, we will also do a 3D scan of your mouth within this timeframe to prepare for your final prosthesis.
Deliver Final Prosthesis
4-6 months following post-op evaluation
Final implant bridges are ready typically 4-6 months after implants are placed. We will have a second set of your temporary fixed teeth that we will use to streamline the creation of your permanent smile. Implant overdentures and single/multi-tooth implants can be started 4-5 months after implant placement. You’ll leave your final appointment with your new permanent smile and self-confidence, which you can enjoy for the rest of your life!
